How Maple Wallet
earns money.

We believe you deserve to know exactly how we sustain ourselves. No fine print, no runaround — here's the full picture.

The Affiliate Model

Maple Wallet may earn revenue through affiliate partnerships with financial institutions. Here's exactly how the process works:

1. You browse our comparisons

We research and review credit cards, bank accounts, and loans — completely free to you.

2. You click "Apply Now"

When you decide to apply for a product, you click through our affiliate link to the issuer's website.

3. We may earn a referral fee

If you complete the application and get approved, the issuer pays us a referral commission. This never affects the product terms or rate you receive.

Our Editorial Independence

Earning affiliate income does not mean we recommend products that aren't right for you. Here's our commitment:

  • We never charge readers money — our service is always free.
  • Affiliate relationships do NOT influence our editorial ratings or rankings.
  • We disclose affiliate links clearly.
  • We review products we don't have affiliate deals for, if they're genuinely good.
  • We update ratings when products change — even if it hurts a partner relationship.

How We Rate Products

Our editorial ratings (out of 5) are based on a weighted scoring system that evaluates annual fees, reward rates, welcome bonuses, interest rates, and additional perks. Cards are compared within their category. No payment from a financial institution influences the score.

Crucially, our scoring is not generic — every criterion is weighted with the young Canadian in mind. That means we prioritize factors like low or no annual fees, student eligibility, credit-building potential, and straightforward rewards over premium perks that rarely apply to someone just starting out financially.

Have questions about a specific product or partnership? We're happy to talk.
